In Côte d'Ivoire, the state lottery holds the concession for betting, but a private brand gets most of the attention. New search-demand data for September 2026 shows Betclic with 55.2% of national demand, more than nine times the share of LONACI's own online platform.

The numbers

According to Blask Index data reported by iGaming Afrika, which measures search demand for betting brands:

  • Betclic: 55.2% of demand in September, up from 52.1% in August
  • 1xBet: 11.8%, in second place and almost unchanged
  • LONACI Online: 6%, down from 8% in August
  • Total demand: up 21.7% on August and 12.6% higher than in September 2025

52 brands showed some demand in September, but the top five took almost nine-tenths of it. The jump in September followed the Côte d'Ivoire against Ghana AFCON qualifier on 24 September.

These figures measure interest in brands through search, not money staked or revenue, so they show popularity rather than exact market share.

How the market is set up

Côte d'Ivoire splits gambling into a concession and authorisations. LONACI (Loterie Nationale de Côte d'Ivoire) holds the state concession for its games, both online and in shops, and the ARJH register lists it as the sole concessionaire. Other legal brands, such as Betclic, 1xBet, Betmomo and Melbet, appear on a separate list of authorised operators.

We explained LONACI's role in detail in How LONACI Controls Remote Gaming in Côte d'Ivoire.

Why it matters

  • For LONACI: holding the legal concession does not guarantee that players choose you. Its online platform is losing share as demand grows.
  • For private operators: the market is highly concentrated. A newcomer needs a clear reason for players to switch from Betclic.
  • For suppliers and affiliates: football drives demand. Big national team matches, such as AFCON qualifiers, are when interest peaks.
