The newsroom

Meet our team.

A small newsroom that reads the gazettes, the regulator notices and the court lists itself. Every story on this site has a name against it.

I build the thing, then I write about it. Project manager, software developer, and since 2016 a reporter on African betting markets. The habit is the same in all three: open the document everybody skipped, and find the line that changes what the story actually means. Most of what we publish starts as a gazette nobody read.

SEO and Growth Lead

I crack SEO open and work out why one page wins while a better one loses. Keywords, structure, the markup nobody bothers to read: I go after the small details that move us up the page while everyone else is still guessing. If a competitor is ranking above us, I want to know exactly which line of their page is doing it.

How the desk works

We cover regulation market by market rather than chasing every press release. A story earns its place when it changes what an operator, an affiliate or a bettor has to do differently.

Reporting and search are not separate jobs here. A piece is researched, written and then checked for whether a reader, or a machine answering a reader, can actually find the answer in it.

Everything is sourced. Where a claim comes from a regulator, a gazette or a company statement, we say so, and we correct in the open when we get it wrong.
