Game suppliers are still racing into South Africa. In October 2026 alone, Blueprint Gaming signed with Super Group, Sunbet renewed its platform deal with Bede Gaming, and EGT Digital added its casino games to SportPesa. They are doing this while the legal status of casino-style games on betting sites is still being fought over.

The deals

  • Blueprint Gaming and Super Group: Blueprint will supply its slots to Super Group's Betway and JackpotCity brands in South Africa, starting with its Megaways and Cash Strike titles and branded games. Blueprint has been live in the country since late 2025 through Hollywoodbets, but this is its first big rollout with a top operator.
  • Sunbet and Bede Gaming: Sun International's digital brand renewed its platform contract with Bede, extending a partnership of nearly 10 years. Sun International reported 36% year-on-year growth in Sunbet's revenue in the first half of 2026.
  • EGT Digital and SportPesa: EGT Digital's in-house casino games are now on the SportPesa platform. SportPesa operates in Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa.

The legal question behind the deals

In South Africa, online sports betting is legal with a provincial bookmaker licence, but online casinos are not. Bookmakers have offered slots and other casino-style games as fixed-odds bets on a "contingency", mainly under licences from the Western Cape and Mpumalanga.

On 21 October 2025, the Supreme Court of Appeal ruled in Supabets v Casino Association of South Africa that Gauteng bookmakers cannot take bets on casino games without a casino licence. The National Gambling Board says the ruling applies across the country. Lawyers such as Werksmans say it only covers Gauteng. In February 2026, the NGB again told provincial regulators that interactive gambling is unlawful without national legislation.

So far, the major operators have kept offering these games, and suppliers keep signing deals.

Why suppliers keep coming

  • Size: South Africa is the biggest regulated gambling market in Africa, with gross gambling revenue of about R74.9 billion in 2024/25, according to National Gambling Board figures.
  • Growth: digital revenue is growing fast, as Sunbet's 36% rise shows.
  • Big local brands: operators like Betway, Hollywoodbets and Sunbet have millions of customers.

The risks to watch

  • Legal: if the NGB's reading of the court ruling wins, casino-style games on betting sites could be shut down outside Gauteng too.
  • Tax: a proposed 20% national tax on online gambling revenue is due to be decided in the February 2027 Budget.
  • New law: a Remote Gambling Bill could change the rules for online casinos in either direction.

Suppliers are betting that the market will be regulated, not closed. For now, the deals keep coming.
