CAF Concludes Eight-Day Africa Cup of Nations 2027 Inspection Visit

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has completed an eight-day inspection visit to Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania as preparations continue for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2027.

A CAF delegation comprising senior officials from the Competitions, Safety and Security, Transport, Marketing, Media, Television and Logistics departments visited key tournament facilities alongside representatives of the three host governments and Local Organising Committees.

The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations will return to East Africa for the first time in more than five decades. Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will jointly host the tournament from 19 June to 17 July 2027.

In Kenya, the delegation inspected the newly constructed 60,000-capacity Talanta Stadium, along with training facilities, team and match official hotels, airport facilities and other sites supporting Nairobi's tournament infrastructure.

The inspection continued in Uganda and Tanzania, where CAF assessed stadiums, training grounds, hotels, airports and other facilities linked to the competition. The venues visited included Mandela National Stadium in Kampala and Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Representatives from the three Local Organising Committees also took part in a CAF-led observer mission during the recent TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The mission provided first-hand experience of stadium operations, security, media activities and matchday delivery.

The latest visits form part of CAF's wider inspection programme across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The governing body will continue technical inspections and discussions with the host countries as preparations progress, with the aim of ensuring the required facilities and infrastructure are ready for the tournament.

Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are also building on their experience of jointly hosting the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024. That tournament provided the three countries with valuable experience in coordinating major football events and offers a foundation for preparations ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

With the tournament now less than a year away, the ongoing inspections will allow CAF and the host nations to monitor progress across stadiums, training facilities, accommodation, transport and other areas needed to deliver the competition.
